Target skills are: utilize critical thinking principles for pest management decision-making aimed at the conjugation of environmental compatibility, production efficiency, economic viability, and social responsibility; apply current pest management principles to crop production and situations where pest management is critical.
Modalita' di esame: Two written exams (one midterm and one final) and one practical test. A term project will be assigned to students and will count in the final course grade.
Criteri di valutazione: Written exams will assess the degree of knowledge on the topics presented during the lectures (35%+35%); Term project will evaluate critical analysis skills, and the creativity in pest management implementation (20%); Practical test will be related to topics presented in laboratory sessions (10%).
Contenuti: This course will deal with current strategies of biological and integrated control of arthropod pests on key agricultural crops. The first part of the course will focus on ecological and economics concepts involved in pest control, the second on the most promising tools in pest management tactics.
